Middlesex County Cricket Club and the club’s principal sponsor, Brooks Macdonald, are delighted to announce that the recipient of the June 2012 Brooks Macdonald Player of the Month award is pace bowler Toby Roland-Jones.
Toby has played a key role in Middlesex’s successes throughout June, and has consistently performed to a high standard in all forms of the game for the club. In First-Class cricket he scored his maiden half century with the bat and collected 6 wickets at an average of 32.00, In List-A cricket he played a key role with the ball in an historic victory for Middlesex at Lord’s over Lancashire and in twenty20 cricket he has bowled with great control and penetration, taking career best twenty20 bowling figures as the Panthers defeated the Hampshire Royals at the Ageas Bowl.
Toby’s maiden First-Class half century came in the ten wicket victory over Sussex at Lord’s, as Middlesex piled on the runs in their first innings to force themselves into a match winning position against the South Coast side. His career best innings of 52 came at number ten, included five boundaries and one maximum, and formed the majority part of a crucial 76 runs ninth wicket partnership with Ollie Rayner. Against Somerset it was with the ball that Toby dominated and shone, taking five wickets in the match at just 22.20 in a performance that very nearly secured Middlesex their second victory of the month in the LV=County Championship and would have taken them to the top of the Division One table.
With attention turning to the Friends Life t20 in June fixtures are coming thick and fast. The Panthers have already played three of their ten fixtures to this point in June, and Toby’s career best figures of 4 for 25 against the Hampshire Royals was an instrumental part in the Panthers securing their first and much needed win of this season’s t20 campaign.
Middlesex CCC’s Managing Director of Cricket, Angus Fraser, commented..........
“Toby continues to develop as a cricketer and during the past few weeks he has produced some consistently good performances for the club. He thoroughly deserves this month’s Brooks Macdonald Player of the Month award”.
Toby was presented with the Brooks Macdonald Player of the Month Award for June during the interval of the Middlesex Panthers Friends Life t20 against Essex at Lord’s on Thursday 21st June 2012, when he received a cheque for £1,000 and a magnum of branded Brooks Macdonald champagne.
