2nd XI Friendly: Middlesex v Northants - Match Report
19 July 2012
Yet again the seconds were hit with bad weather for this friendly fixture against Northants, and even the forfeiture of an innings each by the skippers couldn't produce a result, as yet another downpour hit Radlett at tea on the final day.
Amongst the rain interruptions, and given the lack of time players have had on the field there were some truly magnificent performances, none more so than the innings of Adam London who amassed an undefeated 117. He was, though, nearly upstaged by two of our newest recruits. Lloyd Sabin opened the innings and looked very good value, scoring 54 runs – certainly one to watch. The other rookie to keep an eye on is the hugely coiffured Ryan Higgins who looked completely at home in the company, scoring a chanceless 48 not out.
Our bowlers toiled hard from the off. Under 19 squad member Rashid Mullahzadah bowled very nicely and was justly rewarded with figures of 10-2-23-2. But once again the talents of Ravi Patel shone through, taking 4 wickets during his 36 overs.
Ove all a strong performance in adverse conditions, which should do the boys nicely as they prepare to face the MCC YC’s at Radlett next week.
