2nd XI Trophy: Glamorgan v Middlesex @ Swansea - Match Report
13 August 2012
To be honest, watching this game it was not difficult to see why Middlesex have ended the Trophy season unbeaten and top of the South Division.
Having been put in to bat Tom Scollay showed the form that we are used to and hit an excellent 51 off just 42 balls. Unfortunately none of the top order followed suit and it was left to Ryan Higgins (26), Ollie Wilkin (46 not out) and Anthony Ireland (32) also not out, to help the visitors to a very respectable 185 for 6 off the 23 overs that were allocated after rain delays.
Messers Duckworth and Lewis gave Glamorgan an extra run to chase, but to be quite honest, that mattered little. Having 20 overs to chase the total, Glamorgan never really looked threatening. Tom Helm took a 3fer and Sandhu chipped in with 2, both looking the more threatening of the Middlesex attack. A very strong fielding performance backed up a very strong bowling attack, and it therefore came as no surprise when Middlesex ran out winners by 31 runs.
The start of play has been delayed at St Helen's Cricket Ground, Swansea for Middlesex 2s' Trophy match against Glamorgan 2s today. Play is now due to start at 2.15pm if there is no more rain, with the match reduced to 25 overs per side.
