Middlesex Cricket Board is delighted to announce that we will be working with Cricket For Change in 2013 to set up a Junior County Visually Impaired / Blind squad based at the Middlesex Indoor Cricket School in Finchley.
There will be two open training sessions on Sunday 28 April and 5 May, for all visually impaired young people to attend, aged 7-18, male or female, who would like to find out more about opportunities in VI/Blind Cricket in Middlesex. The sessions will run from 11:30am to 1:00pm, incorporating a mixture of skills, drills and fun games, delivered by Cricket For Change’s recently named ‘Hit The Top coach of the year’, James Wischhusen.
Blind Cricket in England & Wales has a well-established player pathway starting out with Cricketers playing County Cricket in the domestic Blind Cricket England & Wales National league. The full England team returned from the Blind Cricket T20 World Cup in India in January 2013, with their run in the tournament unfortunately ending at the semi-final stage. Cricket for Change, who were responsible for setting up the first ever England Blind team, have over the years provided the stepping stone to successful international Blind Cricket careers for a number of their current and previous players and coaches.
Middlesex Cricket Board and Cricket For Change also realise the huge positive impact that participation, particularly in a team sport such as Cricket, has on the self-confidence and independence of visually impaired young people. Cricket has and will continue to change the lives of visually impaired young people through providing essential mobility skills, the opportunity to make new friends and have fun whilst playing sport!
If you or someone you know would like to attend the open training sessions on Sunday 28th April and 5th May at the MCCC Indoor School please contact Khushali.email@example.com / 07965 285378 to register or for further information.
