Middlesex CCC are delighted to announce that the Club's 2nd XI have reached the Second Eleven T20 Finals Day. Middlesex 2nd XI qualified for Finals Day, which will take place at Arundel on 12 July, by winning their group which contained Essex, Leicestershire, Northamptonshire and Unicorns A. Joining Middlesex on the South Coast will be Durham, Gloucestershire and Surrey.
Middlesex will play Durham in the first semi-final of the day, which begins at 10.30am. Gloucestershire will play Surrey in the other semi-final at 1.45pm. The final is scheduled to start at 5.15pm.
In the group stages Middlesex won five and lost two of their eight matches, the other being abandoned. Adam Rossington has been the outstanding player scoring 299 runs in the initial six matches. The highlight was a brilliant 107 against Unicorns A at Uxbridge. There have also been useful contributions from Dawid Malan, Ollie Wilkin, Tom Smith, Gurjit Sandhu and Andrew Balbirnie.
Commenting on Middlesex's qualification Angus Fraser said: "Second XI cricket is as much about the development of players as winning trophies but it remains very satisfying to qualify for the Finals of a tournament like this. Our 2nd XI are having a pretty good season and are well paced in the other two competitions too. It is good that they learn to win as well as develop their skills.
"I look forward to watching them compete in under a fortnight's time and, hopefully, win the trophy. Hopefully a few Middlesex supporters will make their way down to the beautiful setting of Arundel Cricket Club to cheer them on."
