It is with great pleasure that Middlesex CCC can confirm the Club's 2nd XI have qualified for the semi-finals of this season's Second Eleven Trophy. By winning the group Middlesex CCC 2nd XI will have a home tie, which will be played on 27 August. The venue for the 40-over match will be confirmed in the next few days.
Middlesex's 2nd XI are doing equally well in the Second Eleven Championship. A successful three-day campaign has left the 2nd XI in a good position to win their Division and qualify for the final. The venue for the four-day final will be decided once the teams are known and will be played between 16 and 19 September.
Commenting on the performance of Middlesex's 2nd XI, Middlesex's Managing Director of Cricket, Angus Fraser said "The primary role of the 2nd XI is to produce first-class, List A and T20 cricketers, but if this can be combined with producing a successful winning team then it is a win-win situation. The success of the team is great to see and the encouraging this is that the 2nd XI has not been filled with senior 1st XI players, the sides we have put out have contained many young players, including cricketers from our Academy. The success of the team and the performance of many of the youngsters suggests we should see several of these youngsters pushing for 1st XI places over the coming months and years."
