Middlesex County Cricket Club is delighted to announce that Ravi Patel has signed a new three-year contract with the club. The deal means that Patel will be available to play for Middlesex CCC until at least the end of the 2016 English domestic cricket season. The left arm spinner is currently unavailable for selection with a back injury but has to date taken 54 1st XI wickets at an average of 26.5 in all forms of the game. In 11 1st-Class matches Patel has taken 40 wickets at an average of 28 and in 2013 he claimed 10 scalps in eight t20 matches at an average of 18.6.
Commenting on Patel signing his new deal Middlesex's Managing Director of Cricket, Angus Fraser, said: “Ravi has continued to make good progress at Middlesex CCC. Since recovering from the hand injury he sustained during pre-season he has been in most, if not all, of our red and white ball squads. We have always rated Ravi as a first-class bowler but in 2013 he showed how adaptable and smart he is by being extremely effective in t20 cricket. He is not the finished article and is aware that there are areas of his game that he needs to work. We believe he has the potential to become a fine bowler and that he will take many wickets for Middlesex CCC over the coming years.”
