Where do seasons go? Because of the excellent weather 2013 has been a long, hard season, a summer in which the players know they have worked hard for their money. And we reach our final game against Yorkshire determined to ensure we finish in, at worst, third place. Victory this week would allow us to achieve that goal. Yorkshire, I am sure, will be equally determined to finish second now that Durham have taken an almost unassailable lead in the title race.
For the game Middlesex welcome Corey Collymore back into our 12-man squad. Corey spent last week in Barbados for personal reasons. Tom Helm is in the squad too with Gurjit Sandhu missing out. Ravi Patel is not in the squad having been diagnosed with a stress fracture in his back.
Eoin Morgan was available for selection but we have decided not to play him. Eoin finishes with England tonight after the day/night game in Southampton against Australia and would probably not have arrived in Leeds until tea time on the first day. Tuesday could be a batting day and by tea his chance of batting in our first innings may have disappeared. Steven Finn has not been made available for selection by the ECB.
Middlesex CCC is pleased to announce the following 12-man squad to play against Yorkshire in our final LV= County Championship match of the season at Headingley Carnegie, starting tomorrow, Tuesday 17 September:
Chris Rogers (captain)
Play is due to start at 10.30am on all four days.
