Situated next to the world famous Lord’s Cricket Ground, the Lord's Tavern is a popular destination for locals and those who visit the Home of Cricket for a Lord's Tour, to take in a match or simply for an enjoyable dining experience with high quality food in a discreet and relaxing environment.
A new opportunity has arisen within the Lord’s Tavern to support the Tavern Manager with the daily operations and the smooth running of multiple services, including the Captain’s Lounge on Major Match Days. You will also deputise for the Tavern Manager in his absence
The Assistant Manager will also assume responsibility for the supervision and recruitment of casual staff to work back of house and front of house. Other duties include updating rotas, whilst ensuring high standards are maintained through training. You will also assist with stock control and cash handling as appropriate.
With extensive experience of running a restaurant or bar, you will be able to demonstrate knowledge of wine, beer, ales and cocktails. Experience of managing/supervising and developing a small team is also essential along with strong communication, interpersonal and customer service skills. A personal licence would be advantageous. Ideally you will have knowledge of, and an interest in, cricket.
With the exception of Christmas Day, the Lord’s Tavern is open all year round, Monday to Sunday, from 11am to 11pm and on occasion the closing time is extended for specific events. Therefore, flexibility is vital as you will be required to work shifts between these hours as well as on all Major Match days.
Skills and ability testing will form part of the selection process

Lord’s Cricket Ground, the home of cricket, is a stunning venue steeped in history and charm. From the grandeur of the Long Room in the Grade II* listed Pavilion, to the modernity and style of the J.P. Morgan Media Centre, the Ground offers a dazzling array of possibilities for events of all types.
An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Pastry Kitchen for a talented Pastry Sous Chef to assist the Head Pastry Chef with the continuing delivery of cakes, desserts and pastries whilst maintaining the high standards that are expected by guests of Lord’s.
The role varies greatly as you will be catering from small, private events up to international matches where up to 30,000 people can be in attendance. Other duties include managing and developing the casual Pastry Team’s creative style, while maintaining an exciting and motivating environment. You will also get involved with seasonal menu design and costing, and ensuring adherence to the Club and legislative hygiene and safety standards.
With a passion for food, you will have gained your experience in a fine dining environment and of working in a multi-site operation, ideally in a sporting venue. You will be creative with previous supervisory and/or management experience, you will be a self-starter with excellent personal presentation and interpersonal skills. You must hold NVQ Levels 1 and 2 in Food Hygiene.
Flexibility is vital as you will be working all Major Match Days and extended hours as the need arises.
