Seaxe members gathered in the Middlesex Room after play on the third day of the Lancashire match to present 2013 trophies to Seaxe Award winners from our youth squads, to present the Seaxe Player of the Year Award to Sam Robson and the Second XI Player of the Year Award to Adam Rossington.
For the first time we had a female award winner in Maia Bouchier who received the Piddington All Rounder award. She recorded 106 v Surrey in a partnership worth over 200 runs and took 4-5 against Warwickshire in the national semi-final. A new award, in memory of Jack Robertson, went to Robbie White for the highest score of the season 112 v Essex; this was in a partnership of over 200 runs with another of our winners Max Holden who took the David Newton Batting Award, having scored 603 runs at an average of 46.38. For the third time in four years Abdullah Nazir took the Bowling Award. The award for consistency went to Nikhil Rawal, also a previous winner, whilst the Richard Davis Award went to Thilan Walallawita who took 11-96 in a match, including seven wickets in the second innings to bowl Yorkshire out when the game appeared to be heading for a draw. Finally, the Geoff Norris Award, which recognises outstanding talent in a young player, went to Don Manuweige as he dominated under 17 county cricket as an under 16.
Champagne, in recognition of outstanding performances since our last Awards Event, was presented to Ollie Rayner, Tim Murtagh, Sam Robson, Steve Finn, Chris Rogers and Neil Dexter, who also received a Middlesex bib from Seaxe Vice President Jane Saxton, for the recent addition to his family, baby Holly. Many congratulations to all the winners and very best wishes for 2014.
