13.10pm update - Day 4
The umpires have made another inspection and regrettably the outfield remains too damp for play, so the match has been abandoned - Five points each.
12.10am update - Day 4 (29 May 2014)
The umpires have taken another look and have decided a further inspection is needed at 1pm before any meaningful decision can be made. An early lunch will be taken in the meanwhile at 12.30pm.
11.10am update - Day 4:
There will be a further inspection at 12pm as the umpires are still concerned about the damp outfield.
10.00am update - Day 4:
The covers are off at Old Merchant Taylors' Cricket Club and the umpires have taken a look. The saturated outfield is still cause for big concern, so the umpires will have a further inspection at 11am when they'll need to see significant improvements. Meanwhile the ground staff continue to soldier on. Will update after then.
8.00am update: Day 4:
No overnight rain at Old Merchant Taylors' saw the ground staff blotting until 10pm last night and back again to continue before 6am this morning. A dry morning is forecast so the work continues at pace. You never do know...we'll update you when the umpires arrive around 10am.
10.30am update - Day 3:
The umpires have had a look and play has been abandoned for the day at Old Merchant Taylors' CC.
9.00am update - Day 3:
Sorry to report that we've had fourteen hours of continuous rain overnight, which make the prospects of play for today very bleak indeed. The outfield is sodden and there's no chance of any sun today to assist with the drying up. Will post updates when the umpires arrive and make a decision. Not hopeful though sadly.
1.45pm update - Day 2:
Play has been abandoned from the day due to a wet outfield. So we'll be back tomorrow and hopefully get some play then.
12pm update - Day 2:
Sadly not much has changed at Old Merchant Taylors' Cricket Club, other than the fact that an early lunch has been called for 12.30pm by the umpires. More drizzle falling now, so whilst the mop up continues with some gusto, we could well be facing a losing battle.
11.30am update - Day 2:
Just as the umpires were about to go out for their inspection it started raining again. We'll bring you further updates when we know more.
9.30am update - Day 2:
The umpires have said that there will be an inspection at 11am, so we'll update you after that.
9.15am update - Day 2:
The rain has finally stopped here at Old Merchant Taylors' Cricket Club and the ground staff have started a massive mop up job. Huge amount of work to do before any decision can be made on the chances of play. More rain forecast, so not looking great.
8am update - Day 2:
Middlesex CCC is sad to report that the prospects of play are not looking particularly good at Old Merchant Taylors' CC this morning. Heavy rain has fallen overnight and continues to do so this morning.
We'll continue to keep you posted throughout the day here on the website, on twitter (@Middlesex_CCC) and on Facebook at facebook.com/MiddlesexCricket, but it's definitely not looking good for play currently.
