Paul Stirling signs full time contract with Middlesex CCC
Middlesex County Cricket Club are delighted to announce that Paul Stirling has agreed to sign a full time contract with Middlesex, which will see him representing the club for the next three years.
Stirling, aged 19, has represented Ireland at every international level from under 13’s to under 23’s and made his full international debut for Ireland in March of 2008. Since then, Paul has been an integral part of the full Irish national side, and has competed regularly on both the international stage and in the Friends Provident Trophy for Ireland over the last two years.
In the one day international against England earlier this year in Belfast, Stirling top scored for Ireland, scoring 30 off just 26 balls, against a full strength England side, captained by Paul Collingwood and including his Middlesex colleague Owais Shah.
Stirling has shown further signs of what Middlesex can expect from him, when scoring a half century against Worcestershire, and 80 against Leicestershire in Ireland’s Friends Provident Trophy group fixtures earlier this year.
Paul is centrally contracted to Cricket Ireland, meaning that he will be available to play for Middlesex at times when not required by Ireland.
Speaking of Paul’s addition to the Middlesex playing ranks, Angus Fraser, Middlesex’s Managing Director of Cricket commented...........
“Paul has been involved with the Middlesex youth sides and Second XI and we are delighted that he has now signed a full time contract for the club. His batting for Ireland in 2009 highlighted his potential. Paul has a central contract with Cricket Ireland and we are happy that representing Ireland will be his priority for the time being."
