over 8 years ago | Uncategorised

MIDDLESEX WON BY 56 RUNS: MIDDLESEX 381-5 (44 OVS); GLOUCESTERSHIRE 321 (39.3 OVS)

FULL SCORECARD

Being asked to bat on the postage stamp sized ground that is Downend CC, Bristol, it was important that we made the most of it and put on a total that would make the home side think.

Steve Eskniazi opened and contributed a very solid hundred odd, but really nothing surpassed the innings of Neil Dexter who not only scored a scintillating 147 off just 74 balls but also hit an astounding 6 sixes off six balls.

This really was the stand-out highlight of many in the team's innings of 381-5 off the allocated 44 over overs, which included 20 6s and 34 4s as our batters peppered the neighbouring houses, shops and church.

Superb fielding and a strong, disciplined bowling performance, allied to the huge total on the board proved too much for the home side, who despite rallying for the last couple of wickets eventually capitulated with the score on 321.

A great start by the 2s in this year's 50 over competition which bodes well for the rest of the season.
