Hampshire 2s v Middlesex 2s: Day 2 Match Report

over 8 years ago | Uncategorised

Following our good start to the game it was vital that we continued to push on and challenge the home team at every opportunity. Tight bowling from Harry Podmore, who the batters were having difficulty getting off the square, allied to dangerous swing produced by Gurjit Sandhu, meant that mid way through the day Hants were just a little over 100 with 4 wickets down.

Unfortunately, thanks to a strong innings from McManus we, perhaps, let things slide a little allowing a few too many runs and a couple more partnerships than desired. Hampshire though were not pushing the run rate forward and left themselves out of time to make an attacking declaration. Eventually calling it a day 70 runs short of the Middlesex total. This leaves us to take the initiative and find a total which we feel they might chase, but also give us enough time to take ten poles and the victory.
