"Mel is a fantastic natural athlete who was born to play sport. He can bowl fast, strike the ball cleanly an is a brilliant outfielder. In the middle period of last season, he often bowled very well without any luck. In one-dayers, his athleticism and full, skiddy bowling length make him a key player. At Northants, he also won a game with the bat off the last ball of the innings. Walking off, he asked what all the bother was about - 'Another ball to spare,' he explained. There wasn't - but as we had won, no one seemed to care."
