Day 3 CLOSE: Middlesex 314.

Sussex 2s beat Middlesex 2nd XI by 86 runs.

The 2s missed out on victory after falling 86 runs short of the required 400 runs set by Sussex. Despite 88 runs from George Scott and 58 from Ryan Higgins, Sussex's score posed just a touch too much.

DAY 3 TEA: Middlesex 2nd XI - 254/6 (trailing by 146). 

The 2s reach Tea at 254/6, needing 146 more runs with 4 wickets in hand. George Scott made a crucial 88 before being being bowled by D Rawlins, setting up what should be a tight finish with Don Manuwelge (0*) and Anshuman Rath (22*) who are currently at the crease

DAY 3 LUNCH: Middlesex 2nd XI - 137/4

Lunch for the 2s as they reach 137/4. Earlier Middlesex declared on 59/2 which led to Sussex forfeiting their second innings, giving Middlesex 400 to chase in order to win. Middlesex currently 137/4 with Ryan Higgins top scoring with 58.

DAY 2 CLOSE OF PLAY: Middlesex 2nd XI - 59-2

No further play was possible after lunch at Preston Nomads as heavy rain forced an early close to this Second Eleven Championship clash. Middlesex will resume in the morning on 59 for 2, trailing by 400.

DAY 2 LUNCH: Middlesex 2nd XI 59-2

Sussex declared on 459/8 overnight, putting Middlesex straight into bat this morning. In reply Middlesex have reached 59/2 at lunch with Holden (18*) and White (4*) at the crease. The Middlesex wickets to fall were that of Martin Andersson for 26 and Ryan Higgins for 4, both wickets taken by Winslade.

DAY 1 CLOSE OF PLAY: Sussex 2nd XI - 459-8

Middlesex took 2 wickets in the evening session, both by Bruce who finished the day with 3-66. Andersson also collected 3 wickets, going for 56 runs.

DAY 1 TEA: Sussex 2nd XI - 305-6

Davis made an impressive 132 before being dismissed by Andersson caught by White behind the stumps. Andersson also picked up the wicket of Ward, with the other 2 wickets in the session taken by Bruce and Walallawita.

Middlesex have used 8 bowlers so far in their quest to find the breakthrough wickets.

DAY 1 LUNCH: Sussex 2nd XI - 161 for 2

Winning the toss and electing to bat first, Sussex Second Eleven made a strong start to their first innings in this Second Eleven Championship clash at Preston Nomads Cricket Club.

Middlesex's bowlers had to be patient for the breakthrough as the hosts put on 132 for the first wicket before Martin Andersson struck to dismiss captain Haines for 33, with George Scott taking the catch.

With Arthur Godsal then striking to dismiss Hudson-Prentice for just 4, with Rath taking the catch, Sussex were on 143 for 2 in the 32nd over of the day.

They went in for lunch on 161 for 2 having had the better of the opening day's play.
