Morgan to lead Middlesex's T20 Blast charge

Middlesex Cricket is delighted to announce that Eoin Morgan will be taking over the captaincy of the club's NatWest T20 Blast side with immediate effect.

To date the club's T20 side has been led by Brendon McCullum, who played his last game of the season for Middlesex last Friday night in Hove, before departing to the Caribbean Premier League. Dawid Malan was scheduled to take over the captaincy reins for the latter stages of the campaign, however with him currently selected in the England Test side and unavailable for Middlesex, Eoin Morgan will captain the side until Dawid in next available following his international commitments.

As England's white ball captain in both fifty over and twenty over formats, Morgan has a wealth of captaincy experience, having successfully led his country to numerous series wins across both formats of the game, and having previously captained his county in the NatWest T20 Blast back in 2014.

Daniel Vettori, Middlesex Cricket's T20 Head Coach commented...

"We are excited to have someone of Eoin's experience within the group to call upon to lead the side.

"With injuries and international call-ups, we have gone from having an experienced T20 side to a relatively inexperienced side in a very short space of time, so having someone of Eoin's proven quality to lead us into the next phase of the competition is a real bonus.

"In Eoin we have someone that can continue to lead the side as Brendon has and can maintain the exciting and aggressive brand of cricket we've been playing."
