BOARD POSITION UP FOR ELECTION AT 2026 ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
One position of member-elected Director is up for election. The current incumbent, Marilyn Smith, is standing again for re-election.
We welcome nominations for this position from the membership.
If you wish to stand for election to the Board for this position and have the attributes listed below, please email [email protected] or write to Paul Metcalfe, Chief Growth Officer, Middlesex Cricket, Lord’s Cricket Ground, London, NW8 8QN, no later than Friday 23rd January 2026.
All nominees will then be sent an ECB ‘Fit and Proper Person’ declaration and the form will need to be signed by the two current Voting Members as proposer and seconder and received by the Club via [email protected] no later than Friday 30th January 2026.
ABOUT THE BOARD:
The Board at Middlesex Cricket is responsible for the oversight, governance and leadership of the Club, and of the wider game of cricket in the County of Middlesex.
Its key roles are to:
- Set the strategy and priorities for the organisation and oversee their implementation
- Exercise overall control of the Club’s cricketing and business operations
- Oversee the responsible management of the Club’s financial and other resources
- Ensure that the needs and interests of the Club’s Members and other stakeholders are fully recognised and protected Keep the Club true to its purpose and vision
The members of the Board comprise of:
- Chair
- 3 Member Elected Directors (Individual Members of Middlesex Cricket, nominated and voted by Middlesex Members)
- 1 Nominated Elected Director (Individual Member of Middlesex Cricket, nominated and voted by Affiliated Middlesex Clubs)
- A maximum of 5 Appointed Directors (Individual Members of the Club, appointed by the Board)
- Chief Executive Officer
- Chief Financial Officer
The Board is required to ensure that the composition of the Board is suitably diverse, both in terms of gender and ethnicity as well as in terms of skill sets.
Board Directors will:
- Be an excellent communicator
- Have a good understanding of sound corporate and modern ethical business practice
- Have clarity of Middlesex Cricket's role and standing both as a professional sporting organisation and pillar of local community
- Work with the executive and office-based team in delivering events and experiences that engage the membership of Middlesex Cricket
- In line with our general ethos towards equity, diversity and inclusion, and in line with guidelines issued by The ECB regarding the constitution of County Boards, the Club encourages applications that provide the diversity of gender and ethnicity that will provide a foundation for sustained progress.
