Chris Lowe

Biography

Chris’s love for the game began as a schoolboy in Oxford encouraging him to become a Middlesex member some years later. In 1993, he joined the club’s membership committee and 2 years later, began a 24-year journey as an elected member of the Committee – later the Executive Board. Throughout, Chris’s energies have been directed towards improving the membership experience, playing a big part in the birth of the Dining Club and members’ forums and in the wider array of social events membership now offers. For 15 years, he also represented Middlesex members’ interests on the MCCs Membership and General Purposes committee.

Chris was a BBC journalist for 37 years, reporting frequently from Northern Ireland – particularly at the height of the Troubles. He has also reported for BBC Radio and TV from many parts of the world and presented most of the BBCs frontline news programmes including Newsnight and Today. In 2000, he left Radio 4’s PM after 7 years to join the BBCs 24-hour television news channel, BBC News 24, presenting four-hour evening shows until taking retirement in January 2009. Alongside his work at MCCC, he is also a magistrate and a school governor.
