Dawid Malan named July Player of the Month

Middlesex County Cricket Club and their principal sponsor, Brooks Macdonald, are delighted to announce that Dawid Malan has been chosen to receive the Player of the Month Award for July 2015.

Malan has been in magnificent form with the bat for Middlesex in both red and white ball formats of the game this month and has played some crucial LV= County Championship and Royal London One-Day Cup innings.

Unquestionably the most important of these contributions was his career best innings of 182 not out, secured in the County Championship game against Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge. With wickets falling around him and with his side in trouble on 165 for 7, he showed fantastic resolve and determination to form a match saving partnership of 185 with James Harris, then remained at the crease until the close of the innings, by which time he has helped Middlesex reach a total of 374.

Whilst Middlesex’s form in white ball cricket has been anything but consistent this term, Malan has continued to perform at the top of the order, and in typical fashion, his final knock of the month saw him hit 47 at Radlett against Kent, in what proved to a match winning total of 260 for 9.

On receiving the club’s Player of the Month Award, Dawid Malan commented...

“I’ve been feeling in great touch since coming back from the two injuries early in the season and it was hugely satisfying for me to have hit that big knock up at Trent Bridge, especially as it was such an important innings in the context of the game.

"My thanks go to all those who chose me to receive the Player of the Month Award for July. Hopefully this form can keep going and we can continue to challenge Yorkshire at the top of the Championship table.”

Nick Holmes, Joint Managing Director of Brooks Macdonald Asset Management Limited and Ghislaine Perry, Brooks Macdonald Head of Group Marketing, presented Dawid Malan with a magnum of Brooks Macdonald champagne and a cheque for £1000 during the interval of today’s Royal London One-Day Cup match against Nottinghamshire Outlaws at Lord’s.
