Dawid Malan named August Player of the Month

over 8 years ago | Uncategorised

Middlesex CCC and their Principal Sponsors Brooks Macdonald have once again selected Dawid Malan as their chosen Player of the Month, who picks up the August 2015 award having also won the award last month for July 2015.

The exceptional form that Malan enjoyed in July continued throughout all of August, and some crucial innings in both red and white ball formats made him the stand-out choice to receive the Player of the Month award again this month.

Malan’s own form with the bat has coincided with a six match unbeaten run for Middlesex in the LV= County Championship, which has seen the Seaxes strengthen their stranglehold on the Division One runners-up spot.

In just two LV= County Championship matches in August, Malan hit 276 runs at an average of 92.00, in addition to an incredible tally of 345 runs in the Royal London One Day Cup, at an average of 85.25 in just five matches, including a career highest List-A innings of 156 not out, scored against Glamorgan at Lord’s in the club’s final group match of the competition.

On receiving the club’s August 2015 Player of the Month Award, Dawid Malan commented...

“Having hit career highest scores in both first-class and List-A formats over the last few weeks, it’s fair to say that things have been going pretty well out there for me in the middle and I’ve been delighted with the contributions I’ve made.

“Whilst the County Championship title looks to be heading back to Headingley now, I’m pleased that I’ve been able to play an important part in the team going on a really good run of results which has seen us strengthen our position in second place. A solid last game against Worcestershire will hopefully see us finish as runners-up in Division One, which is an exceptional outcome for us, especially when compared to last season.

“My thanks again go to all those who chose me to receive the Player of the Month Award this month and or July and hopefully I’ll yet be able to make some important contributions from now until the end of the season.”

Robert Seifert, Investment Director of Brooks Macdonald Group PLC, presented Dawid Malan with a magnum of Brooks Macdonald champagne and a cheque for £1000 during the lunch interval of today’s LV= County Championship match against Yorkshire at Lord’s.
