Podmore & Helm extend contracts

over 8 years ago | Uncategorised

Middlesex County Cricket Club are delighted to announce today that seamers Harry Podmore and Tom Helm have both signed contract extensions with the club.

Podmore, 21, who has made 18 first team appearances, having made List-A and Twenty20 debuts in 2014, continued his progress with five NatWest T20 Blast appearances for Middlesex in 2015. For the Second Eleven this year he picked up 42 Championship wickets, claimed three five wicket hauls and also hit a maiden SEC hundred, 116 not out against Essex at Billericay.

Helm, also 21, has eleven first team appearances to his name, having made First-Class and List-A debuts in 2013. After impressing with seven wickets in Middlesex’s opening two first-class clashes of the season, Helm had limited opportunities this term after being sidelined with a long-term back injury.

Middlesex’s Managing Director of Cricket, Angus Fraser commented...

"In Harry and Tom, Middlesex CCC are fortunate to have two extremely talented and exciting young fast bowlers. If the pair of them continue to work hard, remain fit and strong, and develop as they have, they will be a major part of our plans for many years to come.

“Harry produced a very good season of second eleven cricket in 2015. He was a pivotal figure in the team's success and showed that he has talent with the bat too. A back injury meant that Tom had a disappointing and frustrating season but he remains one of the most exciting young fast bowlers in the country."

Podmore commented...

“Having started my career with Middlesex, I am extremely proud and honoured to be representing such a prestigious club. To have been offered an extension to my contract that will see me continue to play at Lord’s is a dream come true.”

Helm commented...

“I can’t thank the club enough for all the support they have given me over what has been a frustrating period of injury. To be rewarded with an extension to my contract obviously makes me delighted. I can’t wait to get back out on the park and repay the faith that the club has shown in me."
