Middlesex Women v Surrey Women - Full Match Report

MIDDLESEX WON BY 66 RUNS: MIDDLESEX 165; SURREY 99

FULL SCORECARD

Our curtain-raiser to the 2016 season; we lost the toss and we're put in to bat on a green hard wicket. We too would've bowled.

We lost Dunkley in the 3rd over. Wilson came in and looked in great touch on the back of a very successful England academy tour, scoring runs freely and all round the field. She was supported well by Miles who fell LBW for 14.

Wilson went on to score a superb 63 getting out to the catch of the day. This started our mini collapse losing 6 wickets in 6 overs. We were 111-9 but a fantastic 9th wicket partnership of over 50 between Dattani (30) and Hartley (21) meant we had something to bowl at.

As we did not bat our full 50 overs we were able to bowl 11 overs before lunch. Our overseas player Huddleston (3 wickets) bowled an aggressive opening spell getting a wicket in the first over, then followed that up by bowling Surrey’s England player (Sciver) with a brilliant delivery.

This was followed by another bit of brilliance from Dunkley running out number 5 with an amazing piece of fielding reducing them to 22-3 at lunch.

We have the luxury of 3 spinners in the team, who have great control and spin the ball, and all of them bowled to their potential. Hartley (3 wickets), Dunkley (2 wickets) and Westbury (1wicket) all bowled with skill and intelligence building pressure on Surrey.

This was well supported in the field as we held all our catches, and the ground fielding was fantastic as well. Surrey were bowled out for 99 a great win for a very talented team.
