Second XI Championship: Somerset vs Middlesex

The Middlesex 2s have won their 2nd XI Championship match against Somerset down in Taunton by 3 wickets after knocking off the runs required today (409-7). A fantastic century for Ryan Higgins (120) was ably backed up by 68 for Stephen Eskinazi, 67 for Don Manuwelge and Tom Lace saw them home at the end with 52*. Well done all a fantastic effort!


Day 3, Tea: Somerset 414 & 253-6d; Middlesex 260 & 215-2

The Middlesex 2s have reached 215-2 at tea down at Taunton with Ryan Higgins going well on 83*. A further 193 runs are needed in the final session for the win.

Stephen Eskinazi made 68.


Day 3, Lunch: Somerset 414 & 253-6d; Middlesex 260 & 69-1

Somerset 2s declared on 253-6 this morning, leaving Middlesex 2s needing 408 to win. At lunch on the final day of the Championship Middlesex are 69-1 needing a further 339 to win from two session down at Taunton.

Close at Somerset where our 2s have battled hard with both bat and ball on Day 2 of their SEC game. After being in the field all day yesterday, we recovered from 116/6 at Lunch today, to post 260 all out - 83 runs from 86 balls for Nathan Sowter the pick of the batsmen. In reply Somerset have reached 199/3 at the close of Day 2, leading by 353.

Tough going so far for the 2s, starts for Higgins (40) and Fuller (39*).

Somerset made the most of familiar conditions as they posted a big first innings score.
