Match Updates: 2nd XI T20 Finals Day!

Middlesex 162/8

Somerset 161/7

Full Scorecard

Winning the toss and electing to bat first, Somerset had Bartlett to thank for them reaching a competitive total at Arundel in the final. His 58 off 38 balls proved critical in the West Country side posting a total of 161 for 7 from their 20 overs. He was supported by Rouse and Green, who hit 30 and 26 respectively, although their was little to come from elsewhere.

In reply, Middlesex made a steady but slow start, before things took a turn for the worse, as wickets fell with some regularity to put a halt to any charge they hoped to make. Struggling at 38 for 5 after seven overs, Robbie White took it upon himself to turn things around. An important partnership of 78 with Rath (35) gave Middlesex some hope, but when White fell, for a brilliant 53 off 36 balls, there was still a lot to do! Enter Martin Andersson! The youngster smashed a quickfire 23 off just 12 balls, including despatching the penultimate ball of the game for six, to see Middlesex over the line, to retain the trophy they won here twelve months ago!

A brilliant performance from the Second XI, emulating the great work that the first eleven had done the day before in similar circumstances down in Taunton!

Congratulations lads, just brilliant!
