SECOND XI CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL - Match Updates

MATCH RESULT

DURHAM WIN BY AN INNINGS 117 RUNS

Middlesex were bowled out for 185 on day three to lose by an innings and 117 runs. 

Martin Andersson was left stranded on 45* after Tom Lace had to retire hurt - out after breaking a finger. 

Congratulations to Durham on winning the Second XI Championship and well done to the Middlesex side winning the South League.

TEA

After being bowled out for 202, Middlesex are 134-4, following on. They trail Durham by 168 runs. Paul Stirling lost his wicket just before the tea interval for 86

LUNCH

Only 5 balls were possible this morning, and Middlesex scored 6 runs from them, before bad light forced the players off the field. 

Play will resume at 1.00pm with 22 overs lost in the day. James Harris is 51* and Arthur Godsal 10*

DAY TWO - CLOSE OF PLAY

Middlesex close on 194-8, trailing Durham by 310 runs. James Harris is 51* and Arthur Godsal 6*. Ravi Patel 31 from 66 balls and George Scott 26.

DAY TWO - TEA

Middlesex go into tea on 99 for 4 with a mountain to climb, as they look to put on a healthy first innings total in reply to Durham's mammoth 504 all out. The wickets to fall this afternoon were Martin Andersson, for 16, Paul Stirling for 10, Ryan Higgins for 12, and Max Holden for 20. George Scott (20*) and James Harris (0*) will resume after tea with Middlesex trailing by 405 runs.

DAY TWO - LUNCH

Lunch was called at the close of the Durham Seconds innings on day two, as Middlesex bowled them out for a whopping first innings total of 504. Paul Coughlin was the toast of the hosts batsmen, making a phenomenal 231 before being run out by James Fuller. Fuller himself and James Harris both picked up three wickets apiece, whilst Paul Stirling picked up two late Durham wickets to finish with figures of 2 for 10 from 4 overs. Middlesex Seconds' innings will commence after lunch and the boys will need to bat long and hard to ensure they remain in the game.

DAY ONE - CLOSE OF PLAY

Durham seconds finished the opening day on an impressive 408 for 6. They had Paul Coughlin to thank for a brilliant knock of 179 not out and Cam Steel with a fine 95. James Harris, 3 for 89, and James Fuller, 2 for 90, were the pick of the bowlers For Middlesex.

DAY ONE - TEA

Durham are 215-2 at Tea, Cam Steel has 60 and P Coughlin 65. The Middlesex bowlers have gone wicket less for the afternoon session whilst the Durham batsman have scored 115 runs.

LUNCH

After being asked to bat by the visitors, Durham have moved to 100-2 at Lunch. The first wicket to fall was LBW to Godsal (5-0-15-1) and the second caught by Lace off the bowling of Fuller (7.4-1-28-1) which bought about the lunch interval. Harris has bowled 10 overs for 35 and Higgins 6 overs for just 6 runs.
