Eskinazi pens new deal at Middlesex until 2019

Middlesex County Cricket Club are delighted to announce that young batsman wicket-keeper Stephen Eskinazi has signed a new contract with the club which will see him remain at Lord’s until at least the end of the 2019 season.

Eskinazi, who performed with distinction this summer in Middlesex’s County Championship winning side, hit a maiden hundred at Lord’s in June against Lancashire in only his second first-class appearance for the club, before backing this up with a match-winning hundred and fifty at Scarborough against Yorkshire in his next appearance.

Eskinazi finished the 2016 season with 619 runs to his name from nine appearances at an average of 43.50.

Commenting on Eskinazi’s new deal, Middlesex’s Managing Director of Cricket, Angus Fraser, said…

“Our first involvement with Stephen was speculative, in that he was recommended to us by former England cricketer Chris Smith. The decision to bring him over from Perth has so far been extremely productive for all parties. Stephen’s game continues to develop and witnessing him put on 200 runs with Nick Gubbins against Lancashire this season was one of the highlights of the summer for me. He then highlighted even greater potential by scoring a match-winning one hundred and fifty against Yorkshire at Scarborough. Stephen has a great attitude towards his cricket and hopefully this is just a sign of what he is capable of producing.”

Eskinazi himself commented…

“What we achieved this year has been extremely special and is without doubt one of the proudest moments of my life.

“I am absolutely delighted to have committed my future to this great club for another three years and would like to thank Angus Fraser and the club’s coaching staff for giving me the opportunity to play a part in making history for the club. I look forward to continuing to contribute to our success over the coming years.”
