Middlesex cricketers honoured at annual Seaxe Awards night

Pictured far left is Toby Roland-Jones, Seaxe Player of the Year, with all other Seaxe award winners.

Seaxe young award winners, their families and friends, the Middlesex first eleven squad, coaching staff and Seaxe members themselves, attended the annual Seaxe awards evening in the Old Father Time bar at Lord’s yesterday evening, after close of play of the County Championship match against Essex.

As well as numerous trophies being handed out to the young award winners, which included two awards for Middlesex Women's cricketers for the first time; the Player of the Year award, voted for by Seaxe members, was presented to Toby Roland-Jones, who was there to receive his trophy. Second Eleven Player of the Year, Ryan Higgins, was also in attendance to receive his award, as were several other Middlesex cricketers, who were presented with numerous bottles of champagne for an array of fine individual performances throughout last season.

The Middlesex chairman, Mike O’Farrell, who is also the Seaxe chairman, hosted the awards evening, and stressed the fact that Seaxe was not just a supporters club for the county side, but was a club which aims to help all cricketers, at all levels throughout the county. It was hoped that the promising young players of today would be Middlesex and even Test stars of the future.  He pointed out that Toby Roland-Jones had indeed won a batting trophy from Seaxe when he was ten years old!

Thanks to Alan Ashton, Seaxe Club President for compiling this summary of last night's Seaxe Awards event.
