FOUR MIDDLESEX YOUNGSTERS FEATURE IN ENGLAND UNDER 19'S WORLD CUP VICTORY VS NAMIBIA

over 6 years ago | Uncategorised

England Under 19's got their World Cup campaign off to a winning start today in Queenstown, with each of Ethan Bamber, Jack Davies, Luke Hollman and Savin Perera playing their part in England's victory.

Winning the toss and electing to bat, Namibia posted an under par total of 196 for 9 in their fifty overs, which never looked enough against a strong England side, especially on a wicket that certainly looked to favour bat over ball.

Luke Hollman, with superb flight and unerringly accurate leg-spin was the pick of the England bowlers, picking up 3 for 41 from 10 lean overs, whilst Ethan Bamber, who was gifted the new ball for England, finished with figures of 1 for 26 from seven overs.

Behind the stumps, Jack Davies, kept well and displayed exceptional glove-work throughout the innings.

Savin Perera opened the batting for England in reply and got the innings off to a great start, building a solid platform for the successful run chase, with an opening partnership of 55 in double quick time.

When Perera went for 26, the second wicket to fall, the score was on 68 in just the tenth over. Well ahead of the run rate, England captain Harry Brook and Will Jacks finished off the run chase in style to see England to a comprehensive eight wicket win, secured in just 24.1 overs, with over half the innings spare.

Congratulations to all four Middlesex lads on a great start to the campaign, and here's wishing them all luck in their second World Cup clash against Bangladesh U19's this coming Wednesday evening - 21:30 GMT.
