MIDDLESEX CRICKET SUPPORTS NATIONAL HM GOVERNMENT AWARENESS CAMPAIGN (1)

Middlesex Cricket supports national campaign to raise awareness of the dangers of viewing indecent images of children online

In response to findings of research an HM Government and partner led campaign has been launched across the UK which aims to prevent young men viewing sexual images and videos of children online and increase their understanding of the harm caused to victims of online sexual imagery.

The campaign is using targeted communication activity to educate and empower young men (18-24 years old) to navigate the internet more responsibly by:

The campaign has been developed in partnership with the NSPCC, Marie Collins Foundation and the Internet Watch Foundation - all of whom are involved in dealing with the reporting of, or effects of, IIOC.

Key messages the campaign is looking to communicate are:

Looking at sexual images/videos of under-18s is illegal, regardless of how old they look

Katie Berry, Middlesex Cricket’s Director of Participation and Safeguarding commented:

“With younger people accessing the internet via devices more than ever before, it’s important that we allow young people to make informed choices and understand the law in relation to this topic.”

"Young people may inadvertently receive links to inappropriate material and it’s important that we empower individuals to report these images to the relevant authorities in order for the continued abuse of victims to be minimised.”
