WOMEN IN ACTION THIS WEEKEND AGAINST WORCESTERSHIRE AND LANCASHIRE

Middlesex name XI to play Worcestershire and Lancashire including 15-year old debutant Sonali Patel

On Sunday Middlesex travel to Kidderminster in Worcestershire to take on the hosts and Lancashire who sit sixth and third on the ladder respectively.

Middlesex will be led by Naomi Dattani, in Natasha Miles' absence, and it will be interesting to see who opens alongside her. The London side will also be without Sophia Dunkley and Fran Wilson, who were both key in last week's wins, as they play for the England Academy.

Maia Bouchier again looked in good touch against Yorkshire, finishing unbeaten on 17 and Middlesex will certainly hope she can continue her form, perhaps further up the order as the side is without three key batters. The experienced Beth Morgan will also be important, especially batting with younger players as she helps guide them through their innings.

With the ball spin has done most of the damage for Middlesex. Off spinners Bhavika Gajipra and Emma Albery have shown they are key parts of the attack, Gajipra is the the competition's second leading wicket-taker with four at 7.75, while Albery has taken three at 13.

Worcestershire will look to the competition's second leading run-scorer in Clare Boycott (74) and wicketkeeper Chloe Hill (scores of 29 and 33) to score the bulk of their runs. In the bowling department Boycott will again be key, in Worcestershire's tight win over Surrey she took 2-22. Fellow opening bowler Izzy Watson is also a crucial member of the host's attack and has taken three wickets at 15.67 in the competition to date, including 2-17 against Surrey.

Evelyn Jones is likely to be captaining a depleted Lancashire side due to England Womens Academy fixtures and will look to lead from the front with bat in hand. Jones top-scored with 49 not out against Nottinghamshire last Sunday and will aim to pick up where she left off. Lancashire might look to seamer Laura Jackson to open if Kate Cross remains with England. This would be a change for Jackson in this format but she is in form as the competition's third leading wicket-taker with four wickets at an average of nine.

The matches will take place at Kidderminster CC, with Worcestershire playing Middlesex at 10:30, followed by Middlesex against Lancashire at 1:30. Both matches are free entry.
