FRAN WILSON CALLED UP TO ENGLAND WOMEN'S WORLD T20 SQUAD

FRAN WILSON REPLACES BRUNT IN ENGLAND WOMEN'S WORLD T20 SQUAD

Katherine Brunt has been forced to withdraw from the ICC Women’s World T20 after suffering a flare-up of her longstanding back injury.

Brunt will be replaced in England’s squad by Middlesex batter Fran Wilson, who is not expected to arrive in time to be available for selection for Saturday’s first game against Sri Lanka.

Wilson played a key role in England Women's successful trophy winning World Cup campaign in 2017, and this call-up gives her the opportunity to build on the fourteen International T20 appearances she has already made for England in the short format of the game.

She joins fellow Middlesex Women teammate Sophia Dunkley, who is already with the England squad in the Caribbean, and has played in several of England's Warm-Up fixtures ahead of the tournament which kicks off this weekend.

All-rounder Brunt's departure comes following her leaving the field after bowling five balls in England’s final warm-up game. Scans have shown she will be unable to continue in the tournament.
