Thanks for allowing me onto the club's website.
You may have gathered that one of my sons, Adam, whom a couple of you might have met, is running the London half-marathon in October, on behalf of Scope, the cerebral palsy charity.
So may I just tell you a bit about him, someone I regard as a remarkable young man of whom I am immensely proud. Adam is a triplet and has hemiplegia, a form of cp that affects the whole of the right side of his body so that he has never had use of his right hand to any significant degree and his right leg is weaker. So his disability, from birth, has meant that everything he has done has been with his left hand only. In spite of that he has played lead roles in significant theatre productions, some of them musical theatre (he has a beautiful trained singing voice). He auditioned for a place at RADA and LAMDA, and was within a whisker of landing a part in what has proved to be an immensely successful Disney Channel programme. He writes some incredibly passionate pieces about disability, gender, and equality issues, has taught himself piano (left hand only of course) and is currently doing second year exams in Ancient World at UCL.
More than that, he runs, at the moment strictly for his own amusement, and is more proficient I would venture than any of us (the 10k runs he does in Regents Park take him around 45 minutes) and with more proficient training I think he might do the half marathon in 90 minutes or so.
Adam is a true advertisement for what those with disability can achieve. If you can help him towards raising the £1000 he has pledged he would appreciate it so much.

Thanks so much
