MARTIN ANDERSSON SIGNS NEW CONTRACT UNTIL 2021

MARTIN ANDERSSON EXTENDS CONTRACT WTH MIDDLESEX UNTIL 2021

Middlesex Cricket is delighted to announce that all-rounder Martin Andersson has signed an extension to his contract with the club, keeping him at Lord’s until at least the end of the 2021 season.

Andersson, 23, made his maiden first-class appearance for Middlesex towards the end of the 2018 season – picking up three wickets on an impressive debut against Kent at Lord’s.

An injury sustained over the following winter ruled Andersson out for the majority of the 2019 campaign, although returning to the side as a batsman in September 2019, still unable to bowl, he proved his worth as an all-rounder when hitting 83 against Lancashire at Old Trafford.

Back in full-time training with the squad, now bowling, fit and raring to go for the season ahead, Andersson had this to say on signing a new deal with Middlesex:

“I am delighted to have signed an extension to my contract with Middlesex and am excited and looking forward to the next couple of years.

“The support I’ve received from the club has been fantastic and my thanks go to them for the faith they’ve shown in me.”

Stuart Law, Middlesex’s Head Coach commented:

“It’s great to have Martin confirmed for the next couple of seasons.

“Injury kept him out for most of last year, but he fought his way back into the first team for the last couple of matches, which shows me he has the mental strength to cope with adversity.

“A talented stroke player and a more than handy seamer, Martin will be an important part of the club for many years to come.”
