JOINT STATEMENT FROM MIDDLESEX CRICKET & PCA

Joint statement from Middlesex Cricket and the Professional Cricketers’ Association

Middlesex Cricket has uncovered a long-running administrative error relating to its payment of pension contributions on behalf of its employees.

This is entirely the responsibility of the club and a process is in place to correct this anomaly and ensure that all affected employees, past and present will be reimbursed in full.

Middlesex Cricket is working collaboratively with the Professional Cricketers’ Association (PCA) to ensure players of the past, present and future are suitably protected. The association is actively engaged with the individual members concerned.

The governing body of the game (ECB) has also been informed and advised of the process in place and anticipated timescale.

Middlesex expects to complete the process of paying all overdue pension contributions over the next few weeks and the club has set aside money to cover this cost.

Middlesex is particularly appreciative of the way that all staff affected have worked with them and also the collaborative approach shown by the PCA whilst the club works to remedy this unfortunate mistake.

The situation has highlighted the need for players to be educated on issues surrounding payslips and pension contributions and the PCA is working to ensure their members have the required information to ensure all payments due to them are accurate.
