A LETTER TO BUCKINGHAM PALACE FROM CHAIRMAN, MIKE O'FARRELL

On behalf of the Club, Middlesex Chairman, Mike O'Farrell, has sent the following letter to the Private Secretary of HM The Queen, to express our deepest condolences on the passing of H.R.H Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh.

Dear Sir Edward,

On behalf of Middlesex County Cricket Club, I write to express our deepest condolences on the death of HRH The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, who was Patron of our Club for many years.

The Duke’s relationship with Middlesex Cricket was extensive and meaningful, and we are fortunate indeed to be part of a sport of which he had, so evidently, such a great love and knowledge. We were greatly honoured that he continued to serve as our Patron until his passing.

Most recently, in one of Prince Philip’s final events prior to his retirement from royal duties, Middlesex CCC was privileged to be hosted by the Duke at a drinks party to commemorate the Club’s 2016 County Championship win. His charming and attentive circulation around his many guests that day ensured everyone left with great memories of a remarkable man.

Please convey the condolences of everyone at Middlesex Cricket to Her Majesty the Queen and the Royal Family at this time of great loss to the nation.

Yours sincerely

Mike O’Farrell

Chairman, Middlesex Cricket
