DAY FOUR MATCH ACTION FROM THE OVAL

As predicted, Surrey declared their second innings before lunch on the final day to set up a run chase for Middlesex, with 290 the target for the visitors, whilst Surrey left themselves 71 overs to bowl them out.

Once again, Middlesex were thwarted by the weather conditions, as well on course to chase down their target, a rain shower caused 9 overs of their 71 to be lost, and then a further shower lost another 5, with Middlesex left frustrated at being cheated the chance to secure a brilliant win against their rivals.

Nick Gubbins hit a fine hundred (124), whilst Peter Handscomb added a fluent 70, however with so much time lost in the game, and Middlesex losing late wickets in their quest to get over the line, they were forced to shut up shop and see out the final few overs of the game to finish on 250 for 6 and walk away from the Oval with eleven points earned from a hard fought draw.
