A FOCUS ON - NORTH MIDDLESEX CC

A Focus On… North Middlesex Cricket Club

This week we spoke to North Middlesex CC, a club where almost every team has enjoyed great success in recent years on the field. Their U14 Girls’ Hard Ball side are playing in the County Final on Sunday, so we asked them how their girls’ side has benefited the club.

How has the girls’ junior programme benefited North Middlesex?

North Middlesex has had thriving girls’ teams for several years, competing in the MJCA Seaxe competitions. They won the Under 13 Girls ‘soft ball’ County Final that was played last weekend, and their U14 team are facing Richmond in the Girls ‘hard ball’ County Final this Sunday.

The girls’ junior programme has enabled North Middlesex the opportunity to genuinely include everybody in their club. There is a playing offer for all, ensuring no-one is left out, which helps the club build from year-to-year. Some of the club’s girls now play for Middlesex County Age Group teams, and/or play women’s cricket for the club, as well as helping with coaching.

What else happens at North Middlesex?

North Middlesex CC is located between Muswell Hill and Crouch End, and have five senior men’s teams on a Saturday and one Sunday friendly team. The First XI won the Middlesex ECB Premier League in 2019 with seven regular homegrown players. In the past two years, four of the club’s young cricketers have signed professional contracts with Middlesex Cricket, alongside one former junior in the Sunrisers squad.

The club has a vibrant junior section with over 300 young cricketers and 20 age group teams. There is cricket on offer all year-round, with the club entering indoor leagues, too. Their home ground has a modern, three-lane practice net facility, and the outfield has been voted the best in the Premier League by the Umpires’ Panel for six years running. There is an excellent ‘one club’ feel, with teams returning to the ground to socialise after games and the holding of regular club events throughout the season.

What next?

North Middlesex is a vibrant cricket club combining team success at all ages and levels with a friendly, inclusive environment, and a warm welcome to new members. Their website is regularly updated with club news and articles.

We would like to thank the team at North Middlesex for their contribution and wish them good luck in this weekend’s U14 girls final, and for the rest of the season.
