MIDDLESEX APPOINTS ILLA BHARDWAJ TO ROLE OF CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER

MIDDLESEX CRICKET APPOINTS ILLA BHARDWAJ TO THE ROLE OF CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER

Middlesex Cricket can today announce the appointment of Illa Bhardwaj to the role of Chief Financial Officer.

The appointment comes on the back of yesterday’s announcement that Andrew Cornish was appointed as the Club’s Chief Executive Officer.

Bhardwaj, who is ACCA qualified with an Accounting and Finance degree from the University of Kent, will join Middlesex in October, having previously worked as Group Finance Director at Media Design and Motion Graphics company, Territory Studio Holding Limited.

She arrives at Middlesex with over ten years’ experience in senior financial positions, having held roles in leading financial control, compliance and analysis at similar sized companies to Middlesex Cricket, and facing financial challenges similar to those the Club now faces.

She joins Middlesex with an exceptional track record in all aspects of financial management and processes and will bring the financial security, transparency, and expertise in cashflow management the Club needs. Her experience at working as part of senior leadership teams will also be a huge asset to the Club.

Speaking of Bhardwaj’s appointment, Middlesex Chairman, Mike O’Farrell said:

“After an extensive and thorough recruitment process, in which we have seen some truly exceptional candidates, we are thrilled that Illa has accepted our offer to join the Club.

“Throughout the interview process, Illa shone through as the stand-out candidate, and ticked each and every box we had outlined as the key attributes we needed in the person to fill this hugely important role.

“In such a financially challenging time for the Club and for the game at large, we are delighted to have Illa on board, her experience and knowledge will prove invaluable to us as we navigate our way through this post Covid era, and we are very much looking forward to working closely with her.”

On joining Middlesex, Bhardwaj herself commented:

“I am thrilled to be joining a club that is full of great heritage, prestige and glory. I am excited about the challenges ahead and look forward to working with Andrew and the team to address them and build a successful future for the club.

“From my experience in the Media industry I plan to bring a fresh approach to the Club and a blend of strategic and commercial thinking combined with financial discipline and rigour”.
