SQUAD AND PREVIEW FOR SOMERSET VITALITY BLAST CLASH TONIGHT

over 2 years ago | Squads

STUART LAW NAMES SQUAD OF TWELVE FOR TONIGHT'S VITALITY BLAST CLASH WITH SOMERSET

After a dominant display at Lord's last night which saw Middlesex run out winners by 63 runs against Sussex Sharks, which came off the back of an equally impressive seven wicket win against Glamorgan last Sunday, Middlesex have found some fine form in the Blast and head to Taunton tonight for another must win Vitality Blast encounter with Somerset in opposition.

Head Coach Stuart Law makes only one change to the squad named for last night's victory in St John's Wood with Nick Gubbins dropping out of the squad.

Last night's win took Middlesex to seven points in the South Group table and kept alive their outside chances of still making the qualifying spots for the quarter finals, and they'll need to back that up with another win tonight against a strong Somerset side who themselves looked in solid form last night when they beat neighbours Gloucestershire by eight wickets.

Another win tonight would see Middlesex close the gap on the top four in their quest to finish the group stages on fifteen points and hope to bag a knockout spot.

Middlesex's form right now can see them beat anyone, and if they can perform anything like they did last night and last Sunday, they'll have every chance of keeping those aspirations alive.

Stephen Eskinazi continued his incredible form last night, with another knock of 59 to add to the unbeaten 102 he hit against Essex, the 64 he hit against Surrey, and the unbeaten 92 against Glamorgan in his last three innings. Last year he finished as the second highest run scorer in the Vitality Blast, and last night he took over at the top of this year's run scoring charts, moving to 386 runs at a phenomenal average of 55.15

it's another crucial game for Law's side, who are being marshalled brilliantly by Steven Finn who is revelling in the captaincy role. He picked up his fourteenth wicket of the campaign last night, and leads the way for Middlesex with the ball, exactly as he did last summer.

With only a win in their sights tonight, Stuart Law has named the following squad of twelve for another crucial encounter:

Steven Finn (c)

Martin Andersson

Joe Cracknell

Blake Cullen

Stephen Eskinazi

Tom Helm

Max Holden

Luke Hollman

Daryl Mitchell

John Simpson (wk)

Nathan Sowter

Mujeeb ur Rahman
