ALL-ROUNDER MARTIN ANDERSSON COMMITS LONG-TERM FUTURE TO MIDDLESEX CRICKET

Middlesex Cricket can today announce that all-rounder Martin Andersson has put pen to paper on a new contract with the Club which sees him commit his long-term future to Middlesex until at least the end of 2024.

Andersson, 25, made both his First-Class and T20 debuts for Middlesex at the back end of the 2018 season, before an injury hit 2019 season saw his appearances limited to just two Championship matches, late in the season, playing as a batsman only.

In the first of those two games he hit his maiden First-Class half-century for the Club, when scoring 83 against Lancashire at Old Trafford and he has since gone on the make 23 First-Class appearances for Middlesex, hitting four further half-centuries and taking 51 wickets.

In white-ball cricket he has notched up fourteen appearances for the Club across both formats, with a highest score of 44* coming against Sussex at Hove earlier this year in the Royal London Cup, in a season which saw him make four fifty-over appearances, being dismissed just once, to finish with an average of 133.00.

On Andersson signing a long-term contract extension with Middlesex, the Club’s Head of Men’s Professional Cricket, Alan Coleman, commented:

“Genuine all-rounders are hard to come by in cricket, and Martin has shown his quality with both bat and ball during the last couple of seasons. I’m delighted that he has committed his future to the Club.

“He has the ability to win games of cricket with both skills, and it will be great to watch him in a Middlesex shirt for the next few seasons.”

Andersson himself said:

‘Having been lucky enough to be a part of Middlesex since the age of thirteen, I am very excited and honoured to be committing to a further three years at this great Club.

“I have always appreciated the support the Club has given me, especially throughout my injuries, and I am delighted to continue working alongside some fantastic teammates, coaches and support staff.

As a group, I truly believe we can achieve some memorable things and I look forward to being a part of it.”
