MIDDLESEX CRICKET ANNOUNCE SECOND ELEVEN FIXTURES FOR 2022 SEASON

MIDDLESEX CRICKET ANNOUNCES SECOND ELEVEN FIXTURES FOR THE 2022 SEASON

Middlesex Cricket is today delighted to announce the Club’s Men’s Second Eleven fixture schedule for the forthcoming season.

There are some real stand-out fixtures to look forward to as the Second Eleven return to what we all hope will be a full and uninterrupted season of action after the imposed Covid-19 restrictions of the last two summers.

The Seconds will compete in both the Second Eleven County Championship and the Second Eleven County T20 this year, with all home fixtures in both competitions hosted by our good friends at Radlett Cricket Club and Merchant Taylors’ School in Northwood.

Things kick off for the Twos with a home tie at Radlett’s Brunton Memorial Ground against Essex in the Championship on the 12th of April in the first of four back-to-back four-day encounters. They then head into a block of T20 action, starting against Kent in Canterbury on 17th May, with the T20 competition completed over the next three and a half weeks, before then returning to red-ball action on 20th June against Surrey at Radlett – the first of five Championship matches played into September to bring the season to a close.

Sandwiched in the middle of that last block of Championship encounters will be two exciting Second Eleven fifty-over friendly clashes, when the Second Eleven will have the chance to put their skills to the test against the very best that recreational cricket has to offer.

The Seconds will resume their fixture against a representative side from the Cricket Club Conference, in a game hosted at Teddington Cricket Club on 19th July, before, and for the first time ever, the Club will take on a representative side from the South Asian Cricket Academy, to be played at home on 21st July with the venue still to be confirmed.

Speaking of an exciting season ahead for Middlesex’s Second Eleven, Head of Men’s Performance Cricket, Alan Coleman, said:

After what has been an incredibly tough two years for the game, it’s great to be back and looking forward to a full fixture schedule this year for the Second Eleven.

“With Covid hopefully not affecting our plans this year, we’re pleased to be able to re-ignite our desire to play against some non-county opposition, and we’re really excited to have arranged an inaugural fixture against the South Asian Cricket Academy, who will be visiting us this year for the very first time. We’re also thrilled to be taking on the Cricket Club Conference again, in a fixture that we have played many times down the years.

"Both fixtures will give our players the opportunity to go head-to-head with a group of players who have reached the pinnacle of the recreational game, who will no doubt be right up for the challenge and looking to showcase their own skills against Middlesex’s line-up.

“Out thanks, as always, goes to the Clubs who are kindly hosting us this year – your ongoing support and commitment to preparing the facilities you do is greatly appreciated.”
