MIDDLESEX CRICKET JOINS BRITISH ASSOCIATION FOR SUSTAINABLE SPORT

Middlesex Cricket is delighted to announce that the Club has become a member of the British Association for Sustainable Sport (BASIS), the sustainability hub for sport in the UK.

The Club is one of a host of leading professional sports organisations and governing bodies to have joined BASIS, as the world of sport takes a positive stance on securing a long-term sustainable future.

For more than a decade, BASIS has driven the growth in understanding, expertise, and commitment on sustainability in sport, helping members to shape and achieve their sustainability goals and deliver a positive environmental impact through sport.

BASIS recognise the important role that sport has to play in promoting positive sustainability messaging to the community, promoting healthy lifestyles and communities to guide society towards social, economic, and environmental sustainability.

BASIS’ vision is to harness the power of sport to build a sustainable future with the mission of empowering sport in the UK to become a world leader in sustainability with the urgency dictated by science.

Middlesex Cricket will be working closely with BASIS over the coming seasons on how we can improve our environmental impact on our community and demonstrate our long-term commitment to sustainability.

Russell Seymour, Chief Executive and Founder of BASIS, commented:

“Our mission is to bring sport together to deliver a more sustainable future – rooted in our conviction that sustainability is good for sport at every level, and our fierce believe in the power of sport to deliver a positive impact for everyone.

“There is growing momentum around sustainability in sport, and Middlesex Cricket’s commitment is another big step forward.

“We warmly welcome them into our membership and look forward to working with them to deliver positive environmental impacts in the months and years ahead.”
