RICHMOND GIRLS BECOME U15 SOUTHERN COUNTIES CHAMPIONS

Congratulations to the Richmond U15 Girls side, who were recently able to defend their title and be crowned champions of the Southern Counties!

Three teams competed on the day, each representing their local Regional Women’s side, with Richmond taking the Sunrisers spot. They came up against Reigate Priory CC from South East Stars, and Brighton and Hove CC for Southern Vipers.

In their first fixture, they faced Brighton and posted a superb 156/0 from their sixteen overs. Both opening batters, Dhaliwal and Davies, retired having reached fifty. Richmond then restricted the Brighton reply to 80/2, claiming the victory by 76 runs.

In the final game of the day, they batted first against Reigate Priory and scored 105/5. Dhaliwal finished unbeaten on 45* to end the day on 97 runs without being dismissed.

After a quick start from the Reigate openers, Richmond regained control of the tie thanks to two wickets from Barker, one for Younis and a run-out, which kept their opposition down to 84/4 and victory by 21 runs, and retain the title that they won last year.

Ealing were also taking part in the day, competing in the U13 Girls competition. Once again, representing Sunrisers, they faced Stars’ Spencer CC and Brighton and Hove CC from Vipers.

Having won the first game against Brighton, they suffered a narrow defeat to the eventual winners Spencer, to secure a second place finish.

Middlesex Participation Manager, Sharon Eyers, said: “With Richmond now winning two years in a row, and Ealing coming runners up twice, it’s great to see Middlesex teams with a really good record when representing Sunrisers. It’s a fantastic opportunity for these girls to test themselves against the best in their age group, all whilst emulating their heroes.”

These are outstanding achievements for both clubs, and everyone involved can be proud of their performances this season.
