U18 GIRLS REACH NATIONAL T20 FINAL

Congratulations to Middlesex Girls U18s who have made it through to the final of the ECB U18 County T20 after topping Group Three.

The side progress having won all eight of their games in the competition – finishing eight points clear of their closest challengers, Essex.

Georgia Irving has been the side’s top run-scorer, scoring 118 runs in four matches so far, with a best score of 66 against Surrey at Harlow Cricket Club in the opening game. In the same fixture, Sarah Pearson claimed 2/14, and is Middlesex’s highest wicket-taker with seven scalps.

Amu Surenkumar has been the stand-out fielder showing much promise, inflicting four run outs and taking two catches up to this point.

Middlesex could play Gloucestershire, Lancashire or Leicestershire in the final.

Gloucestershire topped Group Four and have won all but one of their matches to-date and head into the next phase off the back of a 61-run victory over Wiltshire.

Lancashire topped Group One, winning four group stage matches and ended their fixtures with a comprehensive win over Nottinghamshire before their second match on Monday was conceded by Cumbria.

Leicestershire topped Group Two, having defeated Cambridgeshire and Shropshire on the final day to finish in a similar position to Gloucestershire by the way that they won all but one group match.

Speaking of the effort so far, Head of Women’s Cricket, Kari Carswell said: “There has been some excellent cricket played by the girls so far and they can be proud of reaching this stage. It is just reward for all their hard work.”

Details of a venue and start time will be announced when the Club knows.
