MIDDLESEX SUPER 9S WIN REGIONAL TITLE

MIDDLESEX SUPER 9S WIN REGIONAL TITLE

Middlesex’s disability Super 9s side claimed their first regional title yesterday as they defeated Essex by three wickets at Harold Wood Park.

Having won the toss and elected to field, Middlesex started strongly with the ball, taking regular wickets and at one point reducing the hosts to 64/5 as Stefan McKenzie, Waris Baharami and Zak Belchamber all chipped in early on.

Belchamber (3/15) and Baharami (3/31) were the two stand-out performers with the ball as McKenzie finished with 2/16 off four overs as Essex finished on 121/8.

In reply, Beharami (38), Atharv Sharma (31 not out) and Rakim Richmond (22) all made valuable contributions as target was reached in the 24th over.

Middlesex reached the final having won four of their group matches – defeating Kent, Essex and the Isle of Wight along the way.

Congratulations to all involved on their successful campaign – it is just reward for the hard work put in by all players and coaches!
