MIDDLESEX LAUNCHES WESTMINSTER DRUG PROJECT COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP

MIDDLESEX CRICKET PARTNERS WITH WESTMINSTER DRUG PROJECT TO RELAUNCH INNOVATIVE COMMUNITY SCHEME

Middlesex Cricket is excited to announce that we have re-formed a partnership with the Westminster Drug Project (WDP), which will help participants in their programme recover from addiction through the power of cricket.

WDP’s award-winning Capital Card scheme rewards their service users for engaging in their recovery from drug and alcohol issues through participants earning reward points by attending appointments at their local WDP service, which can then be spent at ‘Spend Partners’ in their local community.

Middlesex Cricket are one of WDP’s Spend Partners and will be holding weekly cricket sessions in the borough of Brent, from May 2023 onwards, delivered by the Club’s Participation team, with WDP service users attending the sessions earning points on their Capital Card, which can be built up and then exchanged for tickets to Middlesex matches.

Talking about the exciting new community partnership, Middlesex Cricket Participation Manager, Pete Jones, commented:

We are really excited to be partnering with the Westminster Drug Project through the Capital Card programme again and were disappointed that Covid restrictions in 2020 didn’t allow us to build on the great work we’ve done with them and their service users previously.

“The sessions we used to run with them and their service users a few years ago prior to the Covid out-break were hugely successful and incredibly rewarding, and we are really looking forward to building on that with new participants in Brent and making a really positive impact.

“Working in partnership with WDP provides an exciting opportunity to showcase how cricket participation can make a real difference to people’s lives.

“We look forward to strengthening the partnership in the coming months and growing the number of service users taking part in the game and benefitting from their association with Middlesex Cricket.”
