SQUAD OF FOURTEEN NAMED TO FACE NOTTINGHAMSHIRE IN THE COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP

Middlesex have named an unchanged squad of 14 for our upcoming LV= Insurance County Championship clash against Nottinghamshire which gets underway at Lord’s tomorrow.

Having come out on the wrong side of our opening two matches against Essex and Northamptonshire, in two low-scoring encounters, the team will be looking to bounce back and record its first win of the campaign this week.

Ryan Higgins comes into the match in good form, having scored another half-century and taken more wickets at Wantage Road last week. The rest of the bowling unit shared wickets around up in Northampton and will be raring to go again back home at Lord’s, led from the front by skipper Toby Roland-Jones, who already has twelve wickets to his name.

Our visitors come into the match having won last week against Somerset by 165 runs in a low-scoring clash at Trent Bridge. With the ball, Brett Hutton took 6/45 in Somerset’s first innings and Dane Patterson claimed 5/46 in the second. With a pace attack also containing Stuart Broad, Luke Fletcher and Ollie Stone, the challenge for Middlesex’s top order doesn’t get any easier this week.

Middlesex and Nottinghamshire met twice last year in Division Two and drew both games, with both sides ultimately earning promotion into the top flight, Nottinghamshire as Champions, Middlesex as runners-up. Sam Robson scored a century at both Lord’s and Trent Bridge, while Mark Stoneman also scored a hundred in Nottingham - What Middlesex would do for a repeat of those innings here at Lord’s this week?
