MIDDLESEX SENIORS CELEBRATE END OF THEIR SEASON AT LORD'S

Middlesex’s Seniors celebrated the end of their season during the final LV= Insurance County Championship match of the year at Lord’s last week.

This celebration allowed all eight of our teams at Over-50s, Over-60s, and Over-70s levels to come together for a social occasion and reward themselves for their efforts on the pitch during the season – and what better venue to do it at, than the Home of Cricket.

Throughout the summer, the Middlesex Senior teams play counties from across the region, in competitive leagues, with a real mix of talent and ability on show. Some of the opposition counties feature past county players in their first elevens, whilst in the third elevens there is a much bigger focus on players just enjoying the game and having fun.

Whilst the matches are competitive in nature, they are played in good nature, in high spirits, and offer a fun environment to play in for those players who can’t quite bring it upon themselves to hang up their bowling boots yet or consign their pads to the cupboard.

Middlesex’s most successful side this summer was the Over 50’s third eleven, who progressed all the way to the national final, where they unfortunately lost out narrowly to close neighbours Essex.

As always, new players are most welcome to join this fun and welcoming environment as the Club is always looking to bolster the numbers.

Whatever your level of talent, why not join the Seniors in the close season as winter nets will be held. For those wanting more details, please contact Andrew Marshall via [email protected] and you’ll be sure to receive an open invitation to come along.

To-date, there have been no exclusively Women’s only sides, however this is an area of the Seniors set up that the Club are really keen to expand. Anyone who currently plays or has played previously and would like to play again, should contact Marilyn Smith via [email protected] and we’d love you to help us grow our Women’s Senior numbers.

As the season sets on another year of Seniors Cricket, our thanks go to all those who took to the field, and whilst silverware may not have been forthcoming, there’s always plenty of fun to be had.
