MIDDLESEX DELIVERS SUCCESSFUL WOMEN ONLY ECB SUPPORT COACHING COURSE

MIDDLESEX CRICKET HOSTS SUCCESSFUL ECB SUPPORT COACHING COURSE FOR WOMEN ONLY IN GREENFORD

As part of Middlesex Cricket’s ongoing community engagement activities, the Club kicked off 2024 by recently organising and hosting an event in Greenford, Ealing, one of the county's most ethnically diverse boroughs, to hold a Women’s only ECB Support Coach Course.

One of the Club’s ambitions, aligned to its ongoing ED&I Activation Plan, is to encourage more female coaches and volunteers to get involved in the game, committing to doing all tit can to ensure that cricket is a game for all.

The coaching day in Ealing was held in the Wilf Slack Cricket Centre at William Perkin School, and was tailored specifically for women, to provide a welcoming environment where female only participants could enjoy a day of coaching in a safe and comfortable setting, with a course tailored for their needs.

The ten women from Indian background took part in the course were taking their first steps into what the Club hopes will be a long and fruitful coaching and/or volunteering career.

The feedback received from the course participants was overwhelmingly positive and as a result the Club has committed to hosting a additional women only courses across the year, as we look to inspire the next generation of female cricket coaches and volunteers in the game.

Harminder, one of the participants who attended the course commented:

“I attended the ECB Support Coach Course in Greenford with a few other ladies also from Indian Background.

"The course was women only and tailored to fit everyone’s needs as for most of us it was our first time. Both Tutors, Sharon and Kari ,made us feel really welcome and comfortable. The coaching session was not just educational but truly enjoyable.

"As a Mother of two Young boys, I feel well-equipped and inspired to impart the joy of cricket to the younger generation.

"One of the standout aspects of the coaching program was the emphasis on adapting coaching methodologies to suit the unique needs as It was tailored to maximise the potential of each participant.

"In conclusion, I extend my heartfelt thanks to Middlesex Cricket for the opportunity to learn and grow as a cricket coach. The skills acquired during this course will undoubtedly have a lasting impact on not just my coaching journey but also on the broader landscape of women's cricket”.
